Applied research

Quality is a relatively new subject and one that is perpetually changing, particularly in the humanitarian sector. Ideas, methods and tools have to adapt accordingly. Large areas of the subject remain unexplored (appropriateness and limitations of tools from the commercial sector, performance indicators to measure social usefulness, measuring impact, etc.)

Groupe URD is pursuing its research in a variety of areas:

•  Accreditation, a threat or an opportunity for humanitarian agencies? This subject was the theme of the 3rd Autumn School on Humanitarian Aid, which was organised by Groupe URD in September 2005 (Proceedings of UAH).
•  Groupe URD’s contributions to the 'Benchmarking global humanitarian response' conference, publication of an article, October 2005
•  Feasibility study for a global centralised version of the Dynamic COMPAS
•  Quality Assurance Method and Results Based Management (RBM): complementary or incompatible?
•  Comparative study of the Logical Framework and Quality COMPAS Board
•  Should aid agencies be held responsible for having the necessary resources or achieving the desired results?
